A special air is breathed in Candelaria.
This town is one of those that shows its religious impetus in a more sincere way throughout the Archipelago. In its solemn basilica, surrounded by imposing bronze Guanche statues, it welcomes the image of the Virgen de la Candelaria, La morenita, patron saint of the Canary Islands.
It is a meeting point for thousands of pilgrims every August 15, who in the early morning of that day (or even before) take long walks from every corner of the Island to honor it.
